Your beloved NY Dark Knights will be back for their 3rd season in 2017. The Dark Knights have been one of Golden Stick’s less talked about teams in years past, but the 3rd year veterans plan on changing that in 2017.
The 2015 season was a learning experience for the DKs.There the Knights learned some valuable lessons and techniques from the New York Region’s finest and pulled off some impressive upsets, but fell short in the Semifinals of the Comeback Cup. In 2016, the Dark Knights started off to a slow start, but they battled and grinded every tournament playing close games with some of the best teams in the nation, earning themselves the sixth seed in the Regional Playoffs. They went into the 2016 Yard Nationals in Staten Island as an underdog fourteenth seed, but they surely didn’t play like one. From the spectacular pitching performances from Mike Valenti or Tyler Cann’s late inning heroic Home Runs against the NY Playaz and Boston Raiders, these Caped Crusaders quickly became the talk of the tournament. Although the DKs knew they can compete against the best of the league, it took the rest of the league to realize until a one run loss by the Knights against 7th Floor Crew, the 2016 National Champions.
The Dark Knights look to take the next step in 2017, becoming a dominant force that should not be looked upon lightly. As veterans in the league now, the Knights do not view themselves as underdogs, but a favorite to play late in season tournaments and playoffs in 2017. As 3rd year veterans, Tyler Cann and Mike Valenti will look to continue to build on great improvements in 2017 and become elite players both at the plate and on the carpet. Matt and Nick Valenti, and Dan Hargaden have shown the potential in years past and the offseason that they are forces at the plate and in the field. If these five Knights stay consistent and are clicking on all heels, the New York Region just found themselves a possible Regional Contender. The Dark Knights will rise in 2017. Give them a follow on
