Returning with the same roster as 2014, State of Mind looks to build upon an otherwise successful season in 2014 that climaxed with a Players’ Cup title at the OPEN. With long time wiffle veterans Danny Lanigan, Jay Vantresca, and Matt Ventimiglia all returning for another season, SOM is at the forefront n NY and have a legitimate chance of winning the Regional title.
The Mind is littered with all kinds of experience, former national champions, and elite skill players. Each member of the team batted over .400 and hit double digit homeruns. Vantresca led the team with 23 homers, adding 68 RBIs, 17 doubles and four triples. Ventimiglia was second on the team 21 homeruns and also contributed 45 RBIs. Rounding out the roster is Danny Lanigan. He was second on the team in average with .433 and second with a .520 on base percentage.
On the mound SOM is as good as anybody. Lanigan led the team in wins with seven and logged a team leading 36 2/3 innings. He averaged seven strikeouts per nine innings and walked 38 guys on the season. Venti had the best season on the mound for SOM amassing an impressive 3.35 ERA along with 69 strikeouts and only 16 walks. Vantresca rounds out the SOM rotation, contributing 48 strikeouts in 24 1/3 innings last season.
State Of Mind will be a serious team to watch in 2015. They can easily finish in the top-3 in any event and are legitimate contenders for both a Regional and National Championship. At worst, they will be defending their 2014 Players’ Cup championship. Good luck fellas.
