Wow! What an electric offseason by the NY Dragons. They’ve got new uniforms and a new attitude. They sent Chris Baio packing and revamped their roster to hopefully be more competitive in 2015. Dragons owner Eric “YEE” Rajber resigned veteran John Petric after he contemplated retirement at the end of last season. Petty slashed .366/.443/.540 last season in 161 at bats. He was the only player to bat over .300 and he also contributed 6 home runs on the season. Tough to retire after such a solid season. Yee then went out and signed FA Brian Nguyen, formerly of the NY Playaz. Nguyen provides some much needed pitching depth for the Dragons, who found themselves on the wrong end of many late game comebacks and blown leads last season.
Anthony “Big Maaami” Aguilar rounds out the 2015 Dragons roster. Aguilar made great strides in his second season in GSWL, culminating with a monstrous homerun during the All-Star Classic in Boston last season. He led the Dragons in homeruns last season (7) and RBI’s (27). “Big Maaami”, along with the other members of the Dragons, were well represented at offseason workouts. Weekly scrimmage games on Long Island will hopefully pay dividends for the Dragons this season. The Dragons will be much improved this year, so long as they can hold on to late inning leads and get some timely hits. Pitching might still be an issue, but their team as a whole is greatly improved and expect the Dragons to win a few more than they lose this season.
Projected Lineup: Brian Nguyen, Anthony Aguilar, John Petric, Eric Rajber
